How to Play Breakout Blackjack

Before the hand begins, the player will place their initial mandatory wager either on their hand or the dealer's hand, depending on who they think will win. The player can also place any optional bets at this time. The majority of this game is played like a normal blackjack game.

If the player bets that their hand will win, they will have the ability to hit, stand, split, or double as they please. If the player bets that the dealer's hand will win, the player will have no control over whether their hand hits or stays. The hand must be played as the dealer would normally play it. The dealer will hit any total of 16 or less and stay on a hard 17 through 21.

If the player bets on the dealer's hand, both the player's hand and the dealer's hand will be played to completion, regardless of the outcome of the hand. This is to ensure that all Breakout wagers are resolved. Insurance is not allowed when betting on the dealer's hand to win.

How to Win

A winner is determined the same way as a normal blackjack game. The hand that wins, whether the player was betting on the Player or Dealer, will be paid 1 to 1. If the dealer's hand gets a Blackjack, all players who bet on the dealer's hand will win and be paid 3 to 2. A push will occur if the following scenarios happen: if both the player’s and dealer’s hands are Blackjack; if the player bets that the dealer's hand will win, and both hands bust; and if the player's hand busts, and the dealer's hand is a 17.
